GOP source: Mike Parson will switch from governor’s race to lieutenant governor

July 24, 2015 08:25 PM

Half a dozen candidates for the Republican nomination for Missouri governor proved too much for Mike Parson.

Parson, a state senator and former House member who was one of those gubernatorial candidates, is set to make what his campaign called a major announcement on Saturday afternoon.

On Friday, a key Republican told The Buzz that Parson is set to announce that he’s going to switch races and will seek the GOP nomination for lieutenant governor.

The move would put Parson in a primary with Bev Randles, a Kansas City attorney and former Club for Growth chairwoman who has the support of GOP benefactor Rex Sinquefield.
