A while back, as the espresso took hold inside the clubhouse and the popularity of his drink soared across town, Royals reliever Peter Moylan had an idea.

The Sledge-iatto, the Royals’ highly-caffeinated secret weapon, was his creation. It needed a T-shirt.

“We’re making them,” he told The Star earlier this season.

The order was placed weeks ago. The lag time on the distribution meant that the Sledge-iatto T-shirts arrived on Monday afternoon. So as the Royals opened a four-game home-and-home against the St. Louis Cardinals, Danny Duffy donned a Sledge-iatto shirt. So did Jason Hammel and Moylan and most of the Royals' pitching staff.
